edf1f71fa7 Add comprehensive protected branch workflow documentation (bd-5ce8)
Created complete documentation suite for using beads with protected branches:

1. **docs/PROTECTED_BRANCHES.md** - Comprehensive 600+ line guide covering:
   - Quick start and setup
   - How git worktrees work
   - Daily workflow for agents and humans
   - Merging strategies (PR and direct)
   - Troubleshooting common issues
   - Platform-specific notes (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket)
   - Advanced topics (CI/CD, multi-clone sync, etc.)

2. **AGENTS.md** - Added "Protected Branch Workflow" section:
   - Quick reference for agents
   - No changes needed to agent workflows
   - Commands for setup and merging
   - Link to detailed docs

3. **README.md** - Updated with:
   - Protected branch support feature flag
   - Quick start instructions with --branch flag
   - Link to comprehensive guide

4. **examples/protected-branch/** - Working example with:
   - Step-by-step demo
   - Multi-clone sync workflow
   - GitHub Actions integration example
   - Directory structure explanation
   - Troubleshooting tips

All commands verified:
- bd init --branch <name>
- bd config get/set sync.branch
- bd sync --status
- bd sync --merge

Documentation is platform-agnostic and works with GitHub, GitLab,
Bitbucket, or any git platform with branch protection.

Closes bd-5ce8

0b0b1d0bc6 Remove obsolete sequential ID and collision resolution docs
- Remove docs/collision-resolution-failure-analysis.md (sequential ID collision issues no longer exist)
- Remove commands/renumber.md (renumber command removed, hash IDs don't need renumbering)

These docs are obsolete since v0.20.1 uses hash IDs by default.

64fe51d6bb Remove obsolete collision remapping code and tests
- Deleted collision remapping tests (obsolete with hash IDs bd-8e05)
- Simplified collision.go from 704 to 138 lines
- Removed RemapCollisions, ScoreCollisions, and reference update code
- Removed issue_counters table dependencies (bd-807b)
- Added COLLISION_MATH.md documentation
- Fixed RenameCounterPrefix and ResetCounter to be no-ops
- Closed bd-a58f, bd-3d65, bd-807b

Hash-based IDs make collision remapping unnecessary since collisions
are extremely rare (same ID = same content).

76d3403d0a Implement adaptive ID length scaling (bd-ea2a13)
- Start with 4-char IDs for small databases (0-500 issues)
- Scale to 5-char at 500-1500 issues, 6-char at 1500+
- Configurable via max_collision_prob, min/max_hash_length
- Birthday paradox math ensures collision probability stays under threshold
- Comprehensive tests and documentation
- Collision calculator tool for analysis

Also filed bd-aa744b to remove sequential ID code path.

2b05ec65f8 Implement 6-char progressive hash IDs (bd-166, bd-167)
- Hash ID generation now returns full 64-char SHA256
- Progressive collision handling: 6→7→8 chars on INSERT failure
- Added child_counters table for hierarchical IDs
- Updated all docs to reflect 6-char design
- Collision math: 97% of 1K issues stay at 6 chars

Next: Implement progressive retry logic in CreateIssue (bd-168)

b078ade2a8 Move collision analysis to docs/ and create bd-191
- Moved collision-resolution-failure-analysis.md to docs/
(better organization with other architecture docs)

- Created bd-191: Add --parent flag to bd list command
Useful for listing children of an epic, will be even better
  with hierarchical IDs (bd-165)

9a109902b4 Consolidate documentation: move maintainer docs to docs/, remove redundant files
- Move RELEASING.md and LINTING.md to docs/ (maintainer-only content)
- Delete WORKFLOW.md (agent workflow content belongs in AGENTS.md)
- Delete TEXT_FORMATS.md (technical details belong in ADVANCED.md)
- Update all cross-references to point to new locations
- Keep CLAUDE.md (required by Claude Code)

Reduces root-level docs from 20 to 16 files with clearer organization.
