fix: resolve golangci-lint errors

- Add _ = prefix for ignored Close/Remove return values
- Fix unused cmd parameter in runMoleculeReady
- Add nolint:misspell for intentional British "cancelled" spelling
- Update comments to use US spelling where not intentional
